Why Python?

Python is a programming language developed by Guido van Rossum in the early 1990s. It takes its name from the comedy group Monty Python, which van Rossum was very fond of. Python is an object-oriented, interpreted, modular, interactive, and high-level language. Being a high-level language makes it easier to learn. Desired tasks can be accomplished quickly with fewer lines of code.

It is supported on a wide range of platforms. It is compatible with many operating systems, such as Unix, Linux, Mac, Windows, Amiga, and Symbian. Python is a very general-purpose programming language. The breadth of its application areas also plays an effective role in its preference. Python is used in many fields, from engineering to finance. The application areas of the Python programming language are as follows:

- Web application development
- Python is widely used in scientific and numerical computations
- Artificial intelligence applications
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Data Mining applications
- Data visualization applications
- Desktop applications and similar software development

The preference for Python by major tech-leading companies has boosted the language's popularity. Companies and organizations such as Wikipedia, Yahoo, CERN, NASA, Google, Reddit, YouTube, and BitTorrent use Python.

Some of the advantages it offers to users include:

- Thanks to its extensive standard library, Python has become extremely popular, and its wide range of application areas has allowed it to reach a broad user base.
- It is open source. Being free and simple makes it remarkably straightforward compared to other languages. It can be learned quickly without any waste of time.
- It does not require a separate compiler. Since the compilation step is eliminated in Python, programs can be developed rapidly.
- It has a more organized code structure. Additionally, having a simple and clean syntax provides advantages in many respects.
- When large-scale software needs to be programmed rapidly, it is more practical compared to languages such as C or C++.
- Python's portability allows a program written in one environment to be executed in other environments as well.
- Python's standard libraries support many Internet protocols.
- Its socket programming interface is remarkably straightforward.
- Benefiting from its long-standing presence, Python has a vast user network. In individual programming, reaching information and necessary documentation is easily accomplished.
